Review: Astonish Specialist Carpet Care - Machine Carpet Shampoo
Ah, carpets – the ultimate dirt magnets. So, in my never-ending quest to pretend my floors are clean, I decided to give Astonish Specialist Carpet Care a whirl. Armed with my trusty Vax Spot Wash machine (you can find this on Amazon by clicking here), I embarked on what I hoped would be a transformative cleaning journey. Spoiler: It was not.
I started by testing this wonder product on my hallway rug. Being the meticulous (desperate) cleaner that I am, I even pre-treated half of the rug to see if it made a difference. The verdict? Nada. Zilch. Zip. The rug looked exactly the same, pre-treatment or not. If I were a detective, this rug would be the perfect crime scene – no evidence left behind.
Determined not to let my £1.89 spent at Home Bargains go to waste, I moved on to my stairs, which were, let's be honest, filthy. We're talking the kind of dirt that makes you question your life choices. I used about two-thirds of the bottle on this mission.
Now, let's talk scent – or lack thereof. This shampoo was about as aromatic as a glass of water. So, in a fit of olfactory genius, I dissolved some Lenor Unstoppables in the Dream scent and added that to the water. My house now smelled divine, even if my carpets still looked like they'd been through a mud wrestling match.
After an hour and a half of what I can only describe as a cardio workout disguised as cleaning, the results were in. The machine did manage to extract a terrifying amount of dirt (seriously, where does it all come from?), but the carpets themselves? Meh. They were cleaner, sure, but still a far cry from the pristine floors of my dreams.
In conclusion, while the Astonish Specialist Carpet Care shampoo is a bargain at £1.89, it's not quite the miracle in a bottle I was hoping for. The search for the perfect carpet cleaner continues, and my laziness and procrastination remain undefeated.
So, if you're like me and want to pretend you're taking steps to clean your carpets while actually just moving dirt around, give this a shot. Otherwise, stay tuned for my next adventure in carpet cleaning. Surely there's a better solution out there – or at least one that smells nice without the DIY scent addition.
Happy cleaning!
